Learn to fix your own stuff. One-on-one soldering instruction, project troubleshooting, and DIY support from someone who actually wants you to succeed at the repair instead of paying for it.
Because everything is electronics now, and "throw it away" isn't an answer. A reflowed connection on a $4 board can save a $400 device. A custom-soldered cable can fix a problem the manufacturer pretends doesn't exist. And honestly — soldering is satisfying in a way most modern hobbies aren't. There's a piece of electronics in your life that works because you made it work.
Not a class of twenty — just you and the iron. Lessons calibrated to your skill level and what you actually want to learn.
Got something specific you want to fix or build? Most lessons happen on real projects you brought in, not pointless practice boards.
Never touched an iron? Perfect. We start with how to not burn yourself and work up from there. No prior knowledge assumed.
Comfortable with through-hole and want to step up? We do surface-mount instruction including 0805/0603 components and basic IC reflow.
Stuck on a project at home? Send a photo and a description of where you're at. For simple stuff, we'll text back free advice. For deeper troubleshooting, we offer paid remote support — way cheaper than shipping the project out and back, and you actually learn something in the process.
If our advice fixed your problem, the tip jar appreciates the gesture but it's not required.
America needs more people who know how things work. The whole "right to repair" idea falls apart if nobody knows how to repair anything. Teaching one more person to solder is one more vote against the throwaway economy. We genuinely love this work — if you're willing to learn, we're willing to teach.
Discounts available for students. Always.
Typically 1–2 hours, depending on what you want to cover. We'll quote based on goals.
No — we have everything at the shop. Once you're comfortable, we can recommend what to buy for your own bench.
Yes, with proper supervision and age-appropriate projects. Soldering is a great skill for older kids and teens, and it's safer than most people think when done right.
For coaching on a project you're already working on, yes — remote video troubleshooting is available. For first-time lessons, in-person is much better.
