The Problem with Most Smart Homes

You bought a smart bulb, then a different brand's smart switch, then a doorbell that needs its own app, then a thermostat that won't talk to any of the above. Now you have eight apps, three different ecosystems, a monthly fee for cloud storage you don't want, and a system that breaks any time the internet hiccups.

It doesn't have to be that way. Home automation done right uses open standards, runs locally, survives power outages and ISP failures, and gets simpler over time instead of more complicated.

Local-First

Systems that work even when the internet is out. No cloud dependency for basic functions like lights, locks, and climate.

Open Standards

Z-Wave, Zigbee, Matter, Home Assistant. Hardware you can swap brands on without rewiring the house.

No Forced Subscriptions

Where possible, we recommend hardware that doesn't require a monthly fee for basic functionality.

Custom Logic

"If the garage door is open after 10pm, flash the bedroom light." That kind of thing — the stuff off-the-shelf systems can't do.

What We Install

Lighting

  • Smart switches (the kind that look normal)
  • Bespoke LED lighting design and install
  • Whole-house scenes and circadian lighting
  • Accent, under-cabinet, and architectural LED
  • Outdoor lighting with photo and motion control

Security & Access

  • Smart locks and keypad door access
  • Camera systems — local recording, no monthly fee
  • Door, window, and motion sensors
  • Garage door automation and notifications
  • Custom logic alerts (not "motion detected" 200 times a day)

How It Works

Walkthrough & Goals

We come out, see the space, and ask what's actually annoying you. Most home automation projects start with one or two real frustrations — not a wishlist of features.

Design & Quote

We design the smallest system that solves your problems, not the biggest one we can sell you. Quote is flat or per-zone, not "time and materials."

Install & Configure

Hardware install, network configuration, automation logic, and walkthrough so you actually know how to use it.

Support That Lasts

We document what we built. Six months later when you want to add a sensor, the documentation tells you (and us) exactly what's where.

This Isn't a Job — It's Our Passion

The "smart home" industry is full of vendors trying to lock you into their ecosystem. We're the opposite — we install systems you own, that you can modify, that don't break when a startup goes out of business or a manufacturer drops support. Your house should work for you, not for a SaaS company.

Common Questions

Do I need to rewire my house?

Almost never. Most of what we install works with existing wiring — smart switches replace existing switches, sensors are battery-powered, and modern LED lighting integrates without major electrical work.

What about Alexa / Google Home?

They can be part of the system if you want them to be, but they're not required. We build systems that work with or without voice control.

Can you fix or expand a system someone else installed?

Often, yes — depending on what's there. Send us a list of what's installed and we'll tell you what's salvageable.

Do you do commercial / small business?

Yes — access control, camera systems, and lighting automation for shops and small businesses are very much on the menu.

Want a smarter house, not a more annoying one?

Tell us what's bugging you and we'll design the smallest system that fixes it.
